Close Your Eyes & Taste It! Is really good for encouraging littles ones to get involved – they can’t resist trying the tastes and really have to think about describing the different tastes in their own words.
How To Play Close Your Eyes & Taste It!
This can be played using pretend food props, or flashcards of the corresponding images, but it’s most fun when played as an actual tasting game,
- Take 4 different everyday tastes that are easily recognised – e.g lemon, cucumber, strawberry, and chocolate or cheese.
- Obviously, special care should be taken choosing the tastes and any food allergies should be checked and taken into account.
- Discuss the 4 tastes together, so that the children are prepared.
- Then blind fold each child in turn, and let them identify the four tastes, in a different order each time so they don’t know what to expect.
- Once they’ve guessed correctly, you can discuss how to describe the different tastes together.
- Then alter the words of the song to suit your own choices.
