The Autumn Fairy Song For Autumn

October 19, 2020 By Sara Mullett 27 Comments

Autumn is such a magical time. The trees and plants can change their colours as if by magic, sometimes seemingly overnight. The Autumn Fairy Song provides a magical explanation for this mysterious transformation and a delightfully whimsical idea!

Let's Play Music : The Autumn Fairy - Songs for Autumn for Kids

 The Autumn Fairy Song

A little Autumn fairy,

Sitting in a tree,

Painting all the leaves,

And throwing them at me

*

Sunny leaves of yellow,

Ruby leaves of red,

Come fluttering down,

All around my head

*

Soon the branches will be bare,

The leaves will all be shed,

And the squirrels and the hedgehogs,

Will all go to bed!

The Autumn Fairy Song is one of my favourite songs for Autumn,  as it really encourages the imagination. The season brings a treasure trove into children’s pockets – conkers , acorns and brightly coloured leaves offer so many possibilities to play and create with.

These simple words are set to the familiar melody of ‘I had A Little Nut Tree’, so it’s very easy to pick up and remember.

Sing the song while you are out on a walk – of you can get to a proper wood then even better. Then bring home your exciting treasures and make some Autumn fairies of your very own.

Check out our Autumn Lesson Plan for lots more seasonal and musical activities combined into a structured 30 min lesson.

Did you write the autumn Fairy song?

Our band is performing it and I wanted to give credit

Hi Cindy, I did write the lyrics to the Autumn Fairy although the tune is borrowed from a traditional nursery rhyme, but a credit would be lovely thanks! 👍
