I’m A Little Teapot : Nursery Songs

July 30, 2013 By Sara Mullett 7 Comments

Every one knows I’m A Little Teapot, it’s an old favourite – partly because children love playing with tea sets and also because they look so cute pretending to be a teapot with one arm in the air!

Sing the song and then have a pretend tea party with teddy bear and rag doll guests!

I'm A little teapot- nursery action songs - let's Play Music

I’m A Little Teapot

I’m a little teapot short and stout,

Here’s my handle, here’s my spout!

When I see the tea cups, here me shout!

Lift me up, and pour me out!

This simple tune and short rhyming verse lends itself to be easily adapted for alternative verses – of which there are many! Here are a few we’ve come across, do share any more ideas below!

I’m a tube of toothpaste on the shelf,

I get so lonely all by myself!

When it comes to night time, then I shout

Take my top off and squeeze me out!

*

I’m a little robot, short and square,

I have no teeth, and I have no hair,

If you want the answers to a sum,

press my button and out it comes!

*

I’m a little snow man, short and fat,

Here’s my scarf and here’s my hat,

When the snow is falling, hear me say..

Build a snowman every day!

Our son liked doing “two handles” instead of a handle and a spout. So we made up this version:

I’m a little sugar bowl, short and white
I’ve got two handles, left and right.
Open up my lid and then you’ll see,
I’ve got sweetness all through me!
